Basketball Recap: Chadron Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Chadron unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Sidney Red Raiders on Friday, falling 56-32. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it six in a row.

Chadron's loss came despite strong showings from Gracie Calkins and Jezy Alcorn. Calkins posted eight points and four steals, while Alcorn had 12 points.

Sidney's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Reagan Nesbitt, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Khloe Schrader, who put up ten points and five boards.

Chadron wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 48-34 win against Crawford on the 6th. As for Sidney, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 50-33 victory against Gering on the 6th.
