Basketball Game Preview: Rancho Christian Eagles vs. La Jolla Country Day Torreys

The Rancho Christian Eagles and the La Jolla Country Day Torreys will face off at 6:15 p.m. on Friday without much rest, having both just played. Both teams are still undefeated (Rancho Christian has four wins , while La Jolla Country Day has five dating back to last season).

Rancho Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Addison Archer, who dropped a double-double with 30 points and ten boards. The matchup was Archer's fourth in a row with at least 23 points. Another player making a difference was Alyson Boyd, who shot 5-for-5 from deep and dropped a double-double with 23 points and ten rebounds.

Meanwhile, La Jolla Country Day blew past Victory Christian Academy, posting a 55-27 win. The Torreys have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 28 points or more this season.

La Jolla Country Day's win came from a few key players Rancho Christian will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Mahlia Washington, who went 6-for-10 to rack up 16 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. Washington is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Atlanta Bass-Sulpizio was another key player, shooting 47% from the field en route to 16 points.

La Jolla Country Day's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Rancho Christian, their win bumped their record up to 4-0.

Rancho Christian was taken down by La Jolla Country Day 83-52 in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Eagles were down 47-25.
