Baseball Recap: Sumter County Takes a Loss

Sumter County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They lost 21-14 to the Turner County Titans. The Panthers were not able to make up for their loss to the Titans from their previous meeting back in February of 2024.

Jordan Minter was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ter'Kaevian Rush, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Sumter County's defeat dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Turner County, the victory snapped their losing streak at eight games and leaves them with a 4-18 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sumter County will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Hardaway at 5:30 p.m. on the 15th. As for Turner County, they will venture away from home to face off against Atkinson County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
