Basketball Recap: Arise Comes Up Short

Arise was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 29-3 to the Mare Island Tech Academy Griffins. Arise was already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.

Mare Island Tech Academy can attribute much of their success to Juliana Contreras, who posted seven points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alissandra Junio, who had six points and five rebounds.

Arise's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Mare Island Tech Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.

Arise will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Madison Park Academy at 4:30 p.m. on January 21st. Mare Island Tech Academy also won't see the court for a while: their next contest is against North Hills Christian at 5:00 p.m. on January 23rd.
