Basketball Recap: Berwick Takes a Loss

Berwick won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Wednesday. They lost 56-36 to the Crestwood Comets. The Bulldogs haven't had much luck with the Comets recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.

Despite the defeat, Berwick saw an underclassman step up: freshman Abby Calarco dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Calarco's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Robbins, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards.

Even though they lost, Berwick smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Berwick's loss dropped their record down to 3-18. As for Crestwood, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.

Berwick is taking a road trip to challenge Wyoming Valley West at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Crestwood, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bloomsburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
