Softball Recap: Telfair County Takes a Loss

If Telfair County was feeling good fresh off their 14-0 takedown of Montgomery County on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Trojans fell just short of the Treutlen Vikings by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The contest marked the Trojans' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Lylah Cate Jones spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up eight Ks. Those eight strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, Telfair County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nala Parsons, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that Parsons has hit this season. Kalyn Deeds was another, earning three stolen bases.

Telfair County's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Treutlen, the victory (which was their fifth in a row dating back to last season) raised their record to 3-0.
