Thompson has gone 9-1 against Hewitt-Trussville recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Trent Seaborn, who threw for 280 yards and three touchdowns. 85 of those passing yards were hauled in by Trey Knight, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Meanwhile, Hewitt-Trussville strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They breezed past Pinson Valley to the tune of 42-6. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-0.

Hewitt-Trussville's win came from a few key players Thompson will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jack Floyd, who rushed for 67 yards and one TD on only seven carries, and also threw for 150 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 86.7% of his passes. Another receiver making a difference was Dylan Cope, who picked up 98 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Special teams was a major factor in the game for Hewitt-Trussville, racking up 18 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Christopher Cj Davis, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown. Another bright spot was a punt return touchdown from Will Phillips.

Hewitt-Trussville didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Caden Ali and Antonio Wynn. Wynn has been hot recently, having also posted nine or more total tackles the last four times he's played. Parker Floyd was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making nine total tackles.

Thompson's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Hewitt-Trussville, their victory bumped their record up to 6-0.

Friday's contest will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Seaborn and Floyd. Seaborn just won't slow down this season and has thrown 16 touchdowns while averaging 257.3 passing yards per game. Floyd has been a dominant force too and has thrown 7 touchdowns (and and only 1 picks) while averaging 108.7 passing yards per game.

Thompson didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Hewitt-Trussville in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, but they still walked away with a 15-10 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
