Softball Recap: Lincoln East Takes a Loss

Lincoln East's last matchup with Papillion-LaVista could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Thursday. The Spartans came up short against the Monarchs, falling 12-5. The defeat continues a trend for the Spartans in their meetings with the Monarchs: they've now lost three in a row.

Lucy Barrett made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Paetyn Sandy, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Lincoln East's loss dropped their record down to 20-15. As for Papillion-LaVista, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 27-9.

Lincoln East does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Papillion-LaVista, they have already played their next matchup, a 9-1 victory against Gretna on the 15th.
