Preview: Mars Fightin' Planets vs. New Castle Hurricanes
Mars is 3-0 against New Castle since January of 2023, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Mars Fightin' Planets will be playing in front of their home fans against the New Castle Hurricanes at 7:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Mars won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Monday. They suffered a tough 57-31 defeat at the hands of North Hills. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Mars has scored all season.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Mya Moore, who scored four points along with three steals and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Cashdollar, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, New Castle's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their ninth straight loss. They were dealt a 55-21 loss at the hands of North Hills. While losing is never fun, New Castle can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 611th, while North Hills is ranked 186th).
Mars dropped their record down to 10-10 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for New Castle, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-15.
Mars strolled past New Castle in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 62-46. Does Mars have another victory up their sleeve, or will New Castle turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
