Football Recap: Shadow Ridge Takes a Loss

Shadow Ridge had lost three straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 3-5 to make it four. They lost 49-24 to the Higley Knights. The Stallions were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-14.

Although Shadow Ridge took the loss, they still got scores from Joel Cooper, Nolan Rau, and Michael Cruz.

Special teams was a major factor in the game for Shadow Ridge, racking up 12 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Cruz, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

As for Higley, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-2. That 25 point margin sets a new team best for them this season.

A big part of Higley's victory came down to the chemistry between Gunner Fagrell and his top target Anthony Palka. Fagrell threw for 261 yards and two touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes while Palka gained 100 total yards and two touchdowns. What's more, Fagrell racked up 124.3 passer rating, the most he's had since back in November of 2024.

Shadow Ridge didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 59-26 win against Mountain Ridge on the 31st. As for Higley, they have also already played their next contest, a 21-10 loss against Williams Field on the 31st.
