Basketball Recap: Buena Skates Past Rio Mesa with Ease

Buena had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They breezed by the Rio Mesa Spartans to the tune of 70-26. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 37th, while the Spartans are ranked 461st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

When it comes to explaining why Rio Mesa lost, don't look at Brianna Adams. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Quinto, who posted two points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Buena has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.1 points per game. As for Rio Mesa, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-15.

Buena wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, an 80-48 win against Pacifica on the 30th. Rio Mesa has also already played their next game, a 76-20 loss against Ventura on the 29th.
