Softball Recap: Mead Takes a Loss

Mead extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping them down to 9-10. They lost 16-6 to the Pueblo West Cyclones. If the Mavericks were looking for revenge after losing 17-16 to the Cyclones when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Mead saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ainsley Lehman, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another was Ari Tovar, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

As for Pueblo West, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games.

On Pueblo West's side, Kassidy Donley looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

On the hitting side, Acelyn Duran was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiana Lambert, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI and one double.

Mead wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 12-11 win against Fairview on the 29th. As for Pueblo West, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 28-1 victory against Doherty on the 30th.
