Baseball Recap: Westside Comes Up Short

Aquinas hit Westside with a four-run third inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Patriots might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 10-0 to the Irish, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Patriots haven't had much luck with the Irish recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Westside saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Smith, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Westside's loss dropped their record down to 9-17. As for Aquinas, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Westside will face off against Burke County at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bears' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Patriots' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Aquinas, they will square off against Washington-Wilkes at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
