Baseball Recap: Richmond Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Win

Richmond put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past the Vinalhaven Vikings 11-1. Fans of the Bobcats have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Cody Fournier was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gavin Lincoln, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Zaden Steele, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Richmond's record now sits at 8-0. As for Vinalhaven, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Looking ahead, Richmond will face off against Carrabec at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Vinalhaven, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Temple Academy at 11:00 a.m. on the 29th.
