Basketball Game Preview: Ceres Bulldogs vs. Central Valley Hawks

The Ceres Bulldogs will head out on the road to take on the Central Valley Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Ceres is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.6 points per game this season.

Ceres is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They put the hurt on Beyer with a sharp 69-46 victory on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.

Lilly Staggs continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, putting up 25 points and six boards. Those 25 points gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sovannary Carter, who posted ten points and seven rebounds.

Ceres was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Beyer only posted four assists.

Meanwhile, Central Valley suffered their closest loss since December 29, 2023 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Lathrop by a score of 44-41.

Ceres pushed their record up to 15-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points per game. As for Central Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season.

Ceres was able to grind out a solid victory over Central Valley when the teams last played back in December of 2023, winning 48-40. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ceres since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
