Basketball Recap: Tranquillity Tigers vs. Coalinga Horned Toads
Tranquillity lost to Coalinga back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Tigers were dealt a 64-12 loss at the hands of the Horned Toads. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1112th, while the Horned Toads are ranked 360th).
Coalinga's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lali Maciel, who posted 15 points and eight steals. That's the most steals Maciel has posted since back in February of 2025. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Davis, who dropped a double-double with ten points and ten rebounds.
Tranquillity now has a losing record of 13-14. As for Coalinga, they pushed their record up to 20-7 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Tranquillity will face off against Avenal at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Coalinga, they will challenge Dos Palos at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Horned Toads are facing the Broncos at the right time seeing as the Broncos are stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
