Soccer Game Preview: Hilltop vs. San Ysidro

The Hilltop Lancers will challenge the San Ysidro Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hilltop is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.9 goals per game this season.

Hilltop's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Mount Miguel 4-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lancers.

They hit Mount Miguel with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Valeria Romero (2), Arianna Brown, and Citlaly Gutierrez.

Meanwhile, San Ysidro came up short against Montgomery on Tuesday, falling 6-1. The loss continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Aztecs: they've now lost four in a row.

Hilltop now has a winning record of 5-4-1. As for San Ysidro, they now have a losing record at 4-5-1.

Hilltop beat San Ysidro 2-0 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hilltop since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
