Basketball Recap: Encina Bulldogs vs. Rosemont Wolverines
Encina had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They had to suffer through a 52-12 loss at the hands of the Rosemont Wolverines. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 54-22 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2023.
Encina lost on Friday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Khaliah McDonald, who posted three points plus 27 rebounds and two blocks. The dominant performance also gave McDonald a new career-high in offensive rebounds (12). Another player making a difference was Mackayla Ensou, who posted no points plus nine rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, Encina smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 46 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rosemont only pulled down 20.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rosemont to victory, but perhaps none more so than Myra Miles, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. Kennedy Davis was another key player, going 6 for 10 en route to 12 points plus seven steals.
Encina will challenge Chesterton Academy of Sacramento at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Rosemont, they will face off against Kennedy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
