Baseball Recap: Argo Takes a Loss

Argo extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping them down to 6-16. They lost 9-1 to the Crete-Monee Warriors. The Argonauts were not able to make up for their loss to the Warriors from their previous meeting back in May of 2025.

Argo saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brennan Mackessy, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Mackessy is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

As for Crete-Monee, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-8. Considering they have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

On Crete-Monee's side, Keegan Quaderer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, AJ Monegan Jr. was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Crete-Monee is 8-2 when Monegan Jr. posts two or more runs, but 2-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Chris Schubbe, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Argo has already played their next contest, a 10-0 defeat against Thornton Fractional South on the 30th. As for Crete-Monee, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 25-9 victory against Illinois Lutheran on the 30th.
