Basketball Recap: Norristown Falls Despite Big Games from Addison O?Neil and Lex Hernandez

Norristown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 19th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 41-38 heartbreaker at the hands of the Pottsgrove Falcons. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Eagles have suffered against the Falcons since January 16, 2018.

Lex Hernandez and Addison O?Neil certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Hernandez almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine steals, while O?Neil posted 13 points. With that strong performance, Hernandez is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of De?Yani Jones, who earned five points.

Even though they lost, Norristown smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.

Leading Pottsgrove to victory were Kendra Ivory and Thelia Dellaquila. Ivory dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds, while Dellaquila scored nine points in addition to seven boards and four steals. Dellaquila is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Ava Leaman was another key player, putting up four points.

Norristown's defeat dropped their record down to 0-17. As for Pottsgrove, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-10.

Norristown has already played their next contest, a 51-48 loss against Upper Perkiomen on the 23rd. As for Pottsgrove, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 53-49 win against Upper Merion Area on the 23rd.
