Softball Recap: Lincoln Southwest Starts Season with Win on the Road

Lincoln Southwest had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Norfolk Panthers a 9-0 shutout. The Silver Hawks haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Ashley Jucht and Taylor Siefken did most of the damage at the plate: Jucht went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Siefken went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI Jucht has posted since back in August of 2024. Brenly Noerrlinger was another key player, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs.

Lincoln Southwest was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Norfolk only posted a batting average of .133.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Lincoln Southwest beat Norfolk by a score of 10-5 later that day.
