Baseball Recap: Central Christian Gets the Win

Central Christian lost to Holy Ground Baptist Academy back in March of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Crusaders walked away with an 8-5 win over the Stallions. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Crusaders.

Luke Sweatman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Stephen Binggeli, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Tucker Handley was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Central Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Holy Ground Baptist Academy only posted an OBP of .281.

Central Christian's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Holy Ground Baptist Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Coming up, Holy Ground Baptist Academy will host CrossPointe Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Central Christian will be paying especially close attention to the Stallions' contest: after the Stallions face off against Unity Christian, they'll take on Central Christian again at 5:00 p.m. on April 13.
