Football Recap: Osage City Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Osage City had no problem doing just that on Friday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Royal Valley Panthers a 35-0 shutout. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by 28 points or more this season.

Dylan Theel produced another solid effort rushing for 128 yards and three TDs on only 15 carries, while also picking up 32 receiving yards. Quenten Stark was in the mix too, providing Osage City with one touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Osage City was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 237 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 205 rushing yards in seven consecutive games.

Osage City didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Liam Vaughn and Stark. Osage City received some extra help from Stark, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Osage City pushed their record up to 8-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 9.8 points on average over those games. As for Royal Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.

Looking ahead, Osage City will face off against Atchison County on Friday. Royal Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
