Softball Recap: Newnan Drops Season-High Score on Lovejoy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Newnan). They were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over the Lovejoy Wildcats on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won four in a row.

Piper Willey looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Khloe Walker was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Lauren Watson was another key player, going 1-for-2 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Newnan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. The last time their batting average was this high was back in October of 2024.

The win got Newnan back to even at 3-3. As for Lovejoy, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Newnan wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 15-4 defeat against Northside on the 18th. As for Lovejoy, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 15-12 victory against Dutchtown on the 19th.
