Basketball Game Preview: La Quinta Aztecs vs. Santiago Cavaliers

La Quinta is 1-9 against Santiago since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The La Quinta Aztecs will be playing at home against the Santiago Cavaliers at 6:00 p.m. La Quinta's defense has only allowed 26.9 points per game this season, so Santiago's offense will have their work cut out for them.

On Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, La Quinta beat Los Amigos 32-26. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Aztecs.

La Quinta got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Katelyn Vo out in front who posted 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Katie Nguyen, who put up nine points.

Meanwhile, Santiago was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 15th straight loss dating back to last season. They were dealt a 57-12 defeat at the hands of Orange.

La Quinta has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 18 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.7 points per game. As for Santiago, their loss dropped their record down to 0-12.

Everything came up roses for La Quinta against Santiago when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 54-12 victory. In that game, La Quinta amassed a halftime lead of 28-4, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
