Baseball Recap: Tate Comes Up Short

Tate and Buchholz squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Tate had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Bobcats by a score of 3-2.

Zane Warrington was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Tate is 5-1 when Warrington allows two or fewer earned runs, but 11-12 otherwise.

At the plate, Tate saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Taite Davis, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Tate's defeat dropped their record down to 16-13. As for Buchholz, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 29-1.

While Tate had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
