Baseball Recap: Wauconda Comes Up Short

Wauconda was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Deerfield Warriors. That's two games in a row now that the Bulldogs have lost by just one run.

Wauconda got a good showing from Jackson Rosenberg, who pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Rosenberg has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Wauconda saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carson Diver, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double. Brayden Kirchwehm was another, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.

Wauconda's defeat dropped their record down to 20-11. As for Deerfield, they pushed their record up to 11-21 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Coming up, Wauconda will head out to face off against Sycamore at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Deerfield, they will host Highland Park at 4:45 p.m. on Friday.
