Basketball Game Preview: West Middlesex Big Reds vs. Eisenhower Knights

The West Middlesex Big Reds will square off against the Eisenhower Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: West Middlesex has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Eisenhower will arrive with four straight wins.

West Middlesex came up short against Lakeview on Thursday, falling 56-36. While losing is never fun, the Big Reds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 498th, while the Sailors are ranked 179th).

Meanwhile, Eisenhower hadn't done well against North East recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Eisenhower managed a 59-53 victory over North East.

West Middlesex better keep an eye on Clara Steinberg. She was instrumental in Eisenhower's win, putting up 20 points in addition to eight rebounds and seven assists. That makes it 12 consecutive games in which Steinberg has scored at least a third of Eisenhower's points. Another player making a difference was Lainey Font, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 12 points and three steals.

Eisenhower has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.2 points per game. As for West Middlesex, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.
