Volleyball Recap: Salida Spartans vs. Colorado Springs Christian Lions
After flying high against La Veta on Tuesday, Salida came back down to earth. The Spartans fell just short of the Colorado Springs Christian Lions by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. If the Spartans were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Lions when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Salida actually scored more points across those five sets (104-94), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 18-25, 25-16, 7-25, 29-27, 15-11.
Their offense was headlined by Braeden Johnson and Hazel Brown, who picked up 12 kills apiece. They got some help from Madisyn Wilcox and her 37 assists. Kaylee Johnson controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.
Salida's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Colorado Springs Christian, they pushed their record up to 4-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home.
Salida wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Atlas Preparatory School on the 7th.
