Preview: Manteca Buffaloes vs. El Capitan Gauchos
Two dominant players in Jada Ikharo and Shantelle Magana are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Manteca Buffaloes's road trip will continue as they head out to face the El Capitan Gauchos at 3:00 p.m. on December 27th. Hopefully Manteca focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Thursday.
Last Thursday, Manteca lost to Riverbank on the road by a decisive 54-38 margin. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Manteca came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 137th, while Riverbank is ranked 280th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Ikharo, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Izabella Sanchez, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
El Capitan has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matchups by 26 points or more this season. They breezed by Central Catholic on the road to the tune of 68-30.
Manteca bumped their record down to 11-3 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for El Capitan, their victory bumped their record up to 11-2.
Manteca didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against El Capitan in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 52-48 victory. Does Manteca have another victory up their sleeve, or will El Capitan turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
