Baseball Recap: Centennial Takes a Loss

Centennial lost against Westminster last Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Centennial Knights lost 11-5 to the Westminster Wildcats. The Knights just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.

Daniel Bustillos was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits (and only one walk). The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts.

On the hitting side, Matthew Bronitt and Carlos Marquez stepped up to the plate in a big way. Bronitt scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Marquez scored a run while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Bronitt a new career-high in hits (two). Jake Hickox was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Centennial's defeat dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Westminster, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-5.

While Centennial had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
