Softball Recap: Elgin Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Elgin entered their tilt with Canute on Saturday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They never let the Trojans get on the board and left with an 8-0 win. Considering the Owls have won 11 matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Kynli Garrett, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelby Carter, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Elgin's victory bumped their record up to 16-5. As for Canute, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-3 record this season.

Elgin will welcome Blanchard at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Owls 2.7, the Lions 1.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Canute, they will face off against Arnett at 5:30 p.m. on the 16th.
