Basketball Recap: La Quinta Now 9-1 over Last Ten Games

La Quinta posted their closest win since November 16, 2023 on Friday. They skirted past the University Trojans 28-26.

University lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Julia Holmes, who posted six points in addition to six boards and five blocks. Holmes has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ai Miyano, who had eight points and four steals.

La Quinta is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.4 points per game. As for University, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-12.

La Quinta won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against San Dieguito Academy at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. La Quinta's defense has only allowed 28.6 points per game this season, so San Dieguito Academy's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for University, they will also get right back to it: they'll face off against Northwood at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. University is facing Northwood at the right time seeing as Northwood is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
