Windsor has gone a perfect 3-0 against Loveland recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Wizards will take on the Red Wolves at 6:15 p.m. Windsor will be looking to extend their current 18-game winning streak.
Windsor is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Colorado's top teams: Fort Collins, who was ranked 17th at the time (Windsor was ranked second). The Wizards came out on top against the Lambkins by a score of 5-2 on Saturday.
Shannon Nielsen looked comfortable as she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Breckyn Billadeau, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Kylie Smith, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Mountain Range hit Loveland with a five-run third inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Red Wolves lost 11-1 to the Mustangs. That's two games in a row now that the Red Wolves have lost by exactly ten runs.
Izabelle Tilton made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Windsor's win bumped their record up to 20-1. As for Loveland, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season.
Loveland's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Windsor has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.1 hits per game. It's a different story for Loveland, though, as they've been averaging 9 hits. Given Windsor's sizable advantage in that area, the Red Wolves will need to find a way to close that gap.
Windsor took their victory against Loveland in their previous meeting back in September by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wizards since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
