Basketball Game Preview: Poway Titans vs. Mission Hills Grizzlies

Poway is 0-8 against Mission Hills since December of 2018 but things could change on Friday. The Poway Titans will head out on the road to take on the Mission Hills Grizzlies at 5:30 p.m.

Poway is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game on Tuesday. They were beaten by Westview 87-39. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 596th, while the Wolverines are ranked 90th).

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Mission Hills over Rancho Bernardo in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Mission Hills blew Rancho Bernardo out of the water with a 73-33 final score. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Grizzlies had established a 24 point advantage.

Poway's defeat dropped their record down to 6-13. As for Mission Hills, their victory bumped their record up to 10-6.

Poway took a serious blow against Mission Hills in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 86-32. Thankfully for Poway, Kyara Walter (who went 9 of 16 on her way to 22 points and three steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
