Basketball Recap: Freedom Takes a Loss

Freedom lost against Liberty back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Freedom Patriots came up short against the Liberty Hurricanes, falling 60-38. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 523rd, while the Hurricanes are ranked 75th).

Ava Kopetskie was her usual excellent self, going 6 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 30 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds for Liberty. Kendall Medina was another key player, putting up ten points.

Freedom has been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 13 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-17 record this season. As for Liberty, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.

Freedom will square off against Northampton at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Freedom is facing Northampton at the right time seeing as Northampton is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Liberty, they will face off against Nazareth Area at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Liberty is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.3 points per game this season.
