Softball Recap: Turner County Titans vs. Brooks County Trojans
Turner County had lost nine straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 3-19 to make it ten. They lost 15-3 to the Brooks County Trojans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-1 on September 4th.
Turner County saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Azaria McKinney, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
As for Brooks County, their win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-16. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
On Brooks County's side, Zoey White made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. White has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Macie Wilson was incredible, firing off two home runs, four runs, and four RBI while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Janiyah Thomas, who went 1-for-3 with five stolen bases and three runs.
Turner County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Brooks County, they are taking a road trip to take on Pelham at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
