Football Recap: Coppell Cowboys vs. Marcus Marauders

Coppell won the last time they faced Marcus and things went their way on Thursday too. The Cowboys put the hurt on the Marauders with a sharp 38-13 victory. The Cowboys might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Coppell was led to victory by Carter Zingelmann and Jayden George. Zingelmann rushed for 91 yards and one score, while George rushed for 132 yards and a pair of TDs. Those 132 rushing yards gave George a new career-high. Jackson Echols did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 81 receiving yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Coppell was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 278 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marcus only rushed for 132.

Coppell didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Dristant Chaudhary and Daylon Montgomery. Coppell got some further help from Braylon Powell: he picked up a sack and made five total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Despite the loss, Marcus still got an impressive performance from Carter Francis, who rushed for 77 yards and one touchdown on only five carries.
