Football Recap: Hatch Valley Comes Up Short Despite Demarcus Alaniz's Big Defensive Game

Hatch Valley made up a huge gap compared to their last game against New Mexico Military Institute, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Bears fell just short of the Colts by a score of 36-33 on Friday.

Despite the loss, Hatch Valley still got an impressive performance from David Dumas, who rushed for 157 yards on only 12 carries, and also picked up 48 receiving yards. Dumas has become a key player for the Bears: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least 80 rushing yards, but 1-3 otherwise.

Hatch Valley didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Demarcus Alaniz.

Hatch Valley now has a losing record of 3-4. As for New Mexico Military Institute, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hatch Valley will take on Socorro at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bears will be up against the Warriors' rather soft defense (which has allowed 45.57 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for New Mexico Military Institute, they will face off against Cobre at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Colts are facing the Indians at the right time seeing as the Indians are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
