Calvary Christian and Strong Rock Christian squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Calvary Christian had to settle for second. They took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Patriots. The Knights' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Calvary Christian got a good showing from Braylen Frierson, who tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Frierson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Tripp Ellison was cooking despite his team's loss, firing off two home runs while going 2-for-3. Those home runs were his first of the season.

Calvary Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 17-13. As for Strong Rock Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-17 record this season.

While Calvary Christian had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
