Soccer Game Preview: San Marcos vs. Poway

The San Marcos Knights will challenge the Poway Titans at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. San Marcos is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

Last Tuesday, San Marcos narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Mt. Carmel 3-2. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 17th, while the Sundevils are ranked 77th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

San Marcos hit Mt. Carmel with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Emily Soriano, Sophia Zboyan, and Ava Paolini.

Meanwhile, Poway unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of Mission Hills by a score of 3-2.

Poway's defeat dropped their record down to 10-3-1. As for San Marcos, their win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-3-1.

San Marcos was able to grind out a solid victory over Poway when the teams last played on January 14th, winning 2-0. Will San Marcos repeat their success, or does Poway have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
