Auburn took a three-set loss the last time they faced off against Hoover, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Tigers won by a set and slipped past the Buccaneers 3-2.

Auburn wouldn't go down easily and took Hoover into a fifth set where they got it done with a five-point win. The final score came out to 25-15, 25-14, 20-25, 15-25, 15-10.

Hoover's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cheyenne Conner, who had 24 digs and three assists. Conner is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Addison Jenkins, who had 28 assists and four digs.

Auburn is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-12 record this season. As for Hoover, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-20.

Auburn wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Bayside Academy on the 9th. As for Hoover, they will be taking part in a tournament against Faith Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
