Braves schedule features out-of-state matchups against Florida, Hawaii, Maryland and Texas squads.

St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.) released its 2025 football schedule Wednesday and it will be among the toughest in the country. The slate is headlined by matchups against Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.)Orange Lutheran (Orange, Calif.), St. Frances Academy (Baltimore) and Saint Louis (Honolulu, Hawaii).

St. John Bosco opens the season in Florida for the second consecutive year for a game against Manatee (Bradenton, Fla.) on Aug. 22. The Hurricanes named former University of Florida standout Jacquez Green head coach in 2021 and he led the program to a 10-2 record and a 5A state semifinal appearance last season.

Two weeks later, the Braves have one of their toughest games as they host national power, St. Frances Academy. This will be the second meeting between the two perennial powers. Bosco rolled to a 37-14 win in 2023.
The Braves conclude their non-league schedule at home as they host Serra (San Mateo, Calif.) and Saint Louis in back-to-back weeks.

Trinity League action kicks off after a bye week at JSerra Catholic (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) on Oct. 3. The Braves have dominated the series against the Lions, going 19-0 since 2006 with all but three wins coming by more than one score.

One of the toughest challenges will come on the road Oct. 10 at Orange Lutheran. The Lancers finished last season ranked No. 13 in the MaxPreps Top 25 with both games against St. John Bosco came down to the wire. The Braves won 28-24 during the regular season and pulled out a 20-17 win in the Southern Section Division 1 semifinals.

The following week, Bosco has another road test against Carson Palmer and Santa Margarita (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.). Palmer was named head coach at his alma mater in December and is looking to make a splash during his first year. The Eagles return plenty of talent led by four-star wide receiver Trent Mosley.

The best rivalry over the last decade gets renewed on Halloween as St. John Bosco closes out the regular season hosting last year's MaxPreps national champs, Mater Dei. The Braves are looking to snap a three-game skid against their Trinity League rival. The Monarchs have won seven of the last 10 meetings.

Head coach Jason Negro led the Braves to an 11-2 record and a spot at No. 5 in the MaxPreps Top 25 last season with both losses coming against Mater Dei. They were the only team to keep it within one score against the Monarchs as they lost 31-24 in the section championship game.

The Braves return plenty of talent led by one of the best receiving corps in the country with Madden Williams, Daniel Odom, Carson Clark and Darren Tubbs. Koa Malau'ulu is back under center after starting seven games as a freshman. He was a first MaxPreps Freshman All-America first team selection after throwing for 1,812 yards and 19 touchdowns.

St. John Bosco is the only program in the country that has finished ranked in the MaxPreps Top 25 every season since 2014. The Braves have won four Open Division state titles (2013, 2016, 2019, 2022) and are one of five programs to win multiple MaxPreps national championships.
