Baseball Recap: Monroe Drops Season-High Score on Macon County

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Monroe). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Macon County Bulldogs an 18-0 shutout on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Golden Tornadoes considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

Javion Tinch made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing six bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Monroe's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 0-3 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Isaiah Royal was a standout: he scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Bradyn Chamberlain, who scored two runs and stole four bases while going 1-for-1.

Monroe now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Macon County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Monroe will look to defend their home field on Friday against Sherwood Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. As for Macon County, they will challenge Twiggs County at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
