Baseball Recap: Alden-Hebron Comes Up Short

Alden-Hebron had lost four straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 9-9 to make it five. They came up short against the Harvard Hornets, falling 11-1. The Green Giants were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hornets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

As for Harvard, their win ended a nine-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-19. They not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 24th (when they won 12-1).

For Harvard's part, Eltan Powles made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Powles is becoming a predictor of Harvard's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 3-1 (and 2-18 when he doesn't). Powles was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Alden-Hebron will square off against Schaumburg Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Harvard, they will face off against Marengo at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
