Basketball Game Preview: Cathedral Fighting Irish vs. Heritage Christian Eagles

The Cathedral Fighting Irish and the Heritage Christian Eagles will compete for holiday cheer at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Cathedral is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52 points per game this season.

Last Saturday, Cathedral came up short against Eastern Hancock and fell 62-49.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Abby Beasley, who went 5 for 7 on her way to 10 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. She has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tianna Guy, who posted 15 points.

Meanwhile, Heritage Christian suffered their biggest defeat since January 18th on Friday. They were outmatched by Indianapolis Bishop Chatard and fell 65-38. The Eagles have struggled against the Trojans recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Cathedral now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Heritage Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.

Cathedral was able to grind out a solid win over Heritage Christian when the teams last played back in December of 2023, winning 67-58. Will Cathedral repeat their success, or does Heritage Christian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
