Baseball Game Preview: Winterset Huskies vs. Ballard Bombers

Winterset hasn't had much luck against Ballard recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Huskies will challenge the Bombers at 5:00 p.m. Winterset's pitching crew has only allowed 1.8 runs per game this season, so Ballard's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Winterset is headed into the contest having just posted their closest victory since June 27, 2025 on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over Mount Ayr. Those three runs were actually the fewest the Huskies have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Meanwhile, Ballard waltzed into their game on Monday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Everything went their way against the Tigers as they made off with an 11-1 victory. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Winterset's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Ballard, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.
