Football Game Preview: Connellsville Falcons vs. University Hawks

The Connellsville Falcons will head out to challenge the University Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Connellsville is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.

On Friday, Connellsville lost to DuBois at home by a 38-24 margin. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 293rd, while the Beavers are ranked 47th).

Defeat or not, Connellsville got some senior leadership from Christian Thomas and Caden Matthews. Thomas picked up 112 receiving yards and two TDs, while Matthews threw for 215 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, who contributed 17 in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Linkon Keller, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Even if they lost, Connellsville's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Ethan Foley, Ryan Showman, and Chance Detone, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Meanwhile, University's game on Friday was all tied up 14-14 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 35-27 hit to the loss column at the hands of Butler. The matchup marked the Hawks' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Connellsville's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for University, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.

Things could have been worse for Connellsville, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 31-13 loss to University in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Can the Falcons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
