            Softball Recap: Callaway Cavaliers vs. Marion County Eagles        
        
		
        
        
            It may have taken  eight innings to finish the job, but Callaway ultimately got the result they hoped for  on Wednesday. They walked away with  a   7-2  win over the Marion County Eagles. The  victory was a breath of fresh air for the Cavaliers as it put an end to their seven-game losing streak.
 Lilah Monteith was a  major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she  didn't allow a single  earned run over eight innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate,  going 2-for-3 with two  RBI and one  double. That's the most  hits  she has posted since back in September.

 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Ryleigh Seymour, who  went 3-for-4 with two  runs, two  doubles,  and one  stolen base. Those  two  doubles gave  her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of  Jerrica Jones, who  went 1-for-4 with two  RBI and one  run.
Callaway's record is now 9-17. As for Marion County,  they are  on  a  three-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 18-9.
The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Eagles beat Callaway by a score of  5-1 later that day.
