Basketball Recap: Janayah Johnson and Jamiah Fontenberry Secure Win for Inderkum

Inderkum won the last time they faced Vista del Lago and things went their way on Thursday too. The Inderkum Tigers walked away with a 42-32 win over the Vista del Lago Eagles. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 138th, while the Eagles are ranked 315th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Inderkum was led to victory by Jamiah Fontenberry and Janayah Johnson. Fontenberry went 6 for 10 en route to 18 points and six boards, while Johnson posted nine points along with five rebounds and five steals. Another player making a difference was Aniyah Bruhn, who scored eight points and three steals.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bella Pallari, who had eight points in addition to five boards and five steals. Pallari has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelsey Brooks, who earned ten points and four steals.

Inderkum has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. As for Vista del Lago, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-13.

Inderkum wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 84-36 victory against Bella Vista on the 4th. As for Vista del Lago, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 48-47 win against Woodcreek on the 4th.
